If you just got a crack in your windshield, the first question is usually the same: what is this going to cost me? Here is the straight answer for Bakersfield, and what moves the price up or down.

The short answer

At Gomez Auto & Truck Glass, car and SUV windshields start in the $200s. Across Bakersfield, windshield replacement quotes run from about $217 to $695, with an average around $294, according to quotes compiled by Glass.net.

Where your car lands in that range depends on a few things.

What changes the price

The vehicle. A small sedan and a full-size SUV do not use the same glass. Bigger windshields, and glass shaped for a specific model, cost more.

A camera or sensors in the glass. Many newer cars have a camera behind the rearview mirror for lane-keeping and automatic braking, and some have rain or light sensors. Those windshields cost more, and the camera has to be recalibrated after the new glass goes in. Camera calibration is coming soon at our shop. If your car has a camera, tell us when you call.

The glass itself. Heated glass, tinted bands and other features all add to the price.

That is why we do not put one price on every car. Give us the year, make and model, and we will tell you the exact price over the phone.

How long it takes

Most car and SUV windshields take about 60 to 90 minutes. If you cannot bring the car in, mobile service is available by appointment.

Side windows too

We replace side windows on cars and SUVs as well, not just windshields. Our work carries a 90-day warranty.
